چکیده

Forty-eight adult patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) (onset before age 16 years) were evaluated at the age of 17 years or more for the presence of hidden 19S IgM rheumatoid factors (RF), i.e., 19S IgM RF that can be detected by the complement-dependent haemolytic assay in the IgM-containing fraction after separation of the serum by acid gel filtration. The average age of the patients was 25.3 years. The mean duration of disease was 16.5 years. Thirty-two of 48 patients (67%) showed the presence of hidden 19S IgM RF in their serum. Disease activity correlated with hidden RF titres in 62% (55/88) of the evaluations. The results indicate that patients with seronegative JRA onset continue to have significant titres of hidden 19S IgM RF in their sera into early adulthood.

Antiperinuclear factor in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

The serological diagnosis of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) is difficult, with only 7-10% of patients 19S IgM rheumatoid factor positive. About 60-70% of patients are positive for hidden 19S IgM rheumatoid factor, but this test requires serum separation and is not available in most laboratories. Antiperinuclear factor has been described in both seropositive and seronegative adult patients ...

Lack of hidden complement fixing IgM rheumatoid factor in adult seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.

IgM rheumatoid factors capable of complement fixation and activation are commonly present in the sera of adults with rheumatoid arthritis. Hidden complement fixing IgM rheumatoid factor has been demonstrated in the majority of patients with juvenile RA and hidden agglutinating IgM rheumatoid factors have been demonstrated in the serum of adults with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis. We studied...

HLA studies in IgM rheumatoid-factor-positive arthritis of childhood.

The clinical course of children with IgM rheumatoid-factor-positive chronic arthritis closely resembles that of seropositive rheumatoid disease in adults. The frequency of HLA DR4 is known to be increased in adults with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis, but the first major report on childhood arthritis did not suggest a correlation, though only 8 seropositive cases were included. Fifty-two chi...

Reduction in IgG galactose in juvenile and adult onset rheumatoid arthritis measured by a lectin binding method and its relation to rheumatoid factor.

Glycosylation changes in patients with juvenile chronic and adult onset rheumatoid arthritis have been studied using a novel binding method. Both these major types of arthritis showed decreased galactosylation of serum IgG, which confirms earlier studies using a different, more complex chemical method. No significant correlation between serum IgG, IgM, and IgA rheumatoid factors and age correct...

Raised IgG antiglobulin factors in Still's disease.

Still's disease (juvenile chronic polyarthritis) differs markedly from adult rheumatoid arthritis in the relative incidence of rheumatoid factor. The sheep cell agglutination test was found to be positive in only 11 to 13 per cent. of Still's disease patients compared with 70 to 80 per cent. of affected adults (Bywaters, Carter, and Scott, 1959; Laaksonen, 1966). Similarly, using the sensitive ...
